My Chili

It’s taking me a while to perfect a chili recipe that Ryan and the girls will eat without whining.

This is what you will need.

1 lb hamburger meat
2 cans Bush chili beans mild
1 can black beans
1 can garbanzo beans
2 cans tomato juice

1/2 chopped onion or minced onions
1 tbsp minced garlic I buy the jar kind
kosher salt
black pepper
1 1/2 tsp cumin
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 1/2 tsp oregano

Cook hamburger meat add the onion and garlic. I love the smell of onion and garlic. It makes me happy.

While that is cooking dump dump the chili beans in the crock pot. Drain the garbanzo and black beans and then dump them in.

Add in the two cans of tomato juice. Sometimes I fill on of the cans with water and then dump that in. Sometimes not. Completely up to you.

Now put all the other spices in the crock pot.

Your meat should be about done. Drain if needed. I find that the lower the fat in the meat the less likely I have to drain it.

Dump in crock pot and stir.

Cover and walk away. Let it cook on low for 6-7 hours. I usually throw it all in around 9 and then we eat it at 5:30.

You will have to spice it up some if you like it spicy. It’s made with kids in mind. I usually add Tabasco sauce, cayenne pepper, and chili powder to mine.

Now, I know that not all my ingredients are organic nor fresh nor does my meat come from a grass-fed cow. I am using canned beans. I honestly don’t like grass-fed beef. I have bought it a couple of times at the local farmers market. It tastes weird to me. That being said go experiment. Add fresh … cook your own beans and add them. Add some peppers, crushed tomatoes. I know I would if my kids and husband wouldn’t have a complete mental breakdown.
